Become a Member

To get the most out of your IEEE experience, we highly recommend registering for BOTH the local student branch (free) and the global professional organization. Follow the steps below to complete your registration.

Step 1: Join the NC State Chapter (Free)

Join our local student branch to access meetings, workshops, OPS, and social events at no cost. This is the first and most important step to becoming an active member.

Go to Get Involved

Navigate to NC State's Get Involved portal. This is the official platform for joining student organizations at NC State.

Sign In with Unity ID

Click the sign-in button and log in using your NC State Unity ID credentials. This verifies you as a current NC State student.

Search for "IEEE"

Use the search bar to find "IEEE". Select "Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers" from the results.

Click "Join"

On the IEEE organization page, click the blue "Join" button. You're all set! A request will be sent to our officers.

Step 2: Join IEEE Global (Optional but Recommended)

Professional IEEE membership ($32/year) is required for officially sanctioned events such as SoutheastCon, Rising Stars, and Hackathons.

Go to the IEEE membership page and click "Join as a student" to begin your application.

Click "Create Account" and provide your personal Information.

Academic Information

Search for "North Carolina State Univ." and fill out your major and expected graduation.

Review Offerings

Browse optional technical societies and publications. You can skip these by clicking continue.

Enter your payment information to activate your membership.
